Bernard Fox

Bernard Fox was born Bernard Lawson on 11 May 1927 in Port Talbot, Wales. He went on to become a familiar character actor to American television audiences, often playing archetypal, quintessentially British figures, and he died on 14 December 2016 at the age of 89.
Fox is best remembered for playing the eccentric ''Dr. Bombay'' in the fantasy sitcom ''Bewitched'' (1964-1972) and Colonel Crittendon in the World War Two comedy ''Hogan''s Heroes'' (1965-1971). His long screen career also included film roles such as Archibald Gracie IV in James Cameron''s ''Titanic'' (1997) and Captain Winston Havelock in ''The Mummy'' (1999).
Fox had an unusual claim to fame connected to the Titanic disaster itself: he appeared in two separate films dramatising the sinking, almost forty years apart. In ''A Night to Remember'' (1958) he played lookout Frederick Fleet, the crewman who famously spotted the iceberg, and he returned to the story decades later as Archibald Gracie in ''Titanic'' (1997).
Though he spent most of his career working in the United States, Fox''s roots in Port Talbot, South Wales, remained part of his story throughout his life.
