Ruth Jones

Ruth Alexandra Elisabeth Jones was born on 22 September 1966 in Bridgend, Glamorgan, and was raised in and attended Porthcawl Comprehensive School in nearby Porthcawl, South Wales, where she was two years above fellow performer Rob Brydon. The pair knew each other at school, and Brydon later encouraged her career in comedy.

Jones appeared in Fat Friends before co-creating, co-writing and starring as Nessa Jenkins in the BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey, for which she won Best Female Comedy Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards in 2007. She has also appeared as Linda in BBC's Nighty Night, as Magz in Saxondale, and as Myfanwy the barmaid opposite Matt Lucas' Dafydd in Little Britain.
