Owain Yeoman was born on 2 July 1978 in Chepstow, Monmouthshire (Gwent), Wales, the son of Michael and Hilary Yeoman. He studied English literature at Brasenose College, Oxford, and began his career in theatre before landing his first film role in the 2003 Oscar-nominated epic Troy, a break that took him from the stage to Los Angeles.
He is best known internationally for playing CBI Agent Wayne Rigsby in the long-running CBS series The Mentalist, alongside further film and television credits since. He was married to English actress Lucy Davis, best known for playing Dawn Tinsley in the BBC comedy The Office and the daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott, from 2006 until their divorce in 2011.
