Colin Jeavons

Colin Abel Jeavons was born on 20 October 1929 in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales. He built a long career on stage, radio and television, becoming best known to audiences as Inspector Lestrade in the Granada TV series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, opposite Jeremy Brett.

Jeavons appeared in many classic British television shows including Minder, Only Fools and Horses and Terry and June. His film work included a role as a vicar in The French Lieutenant's Woman.
