Bennett Arron was born and raised in Port Talbot, South Wales, to the only Jewish family in the town. He moved to London to train at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts before going on to become an award-winning actor, writer and stand-up comedian, often noted as the only Jewish-Welsh comedian on the circuit.
After drama school he formed the sketch group 4-Ply, touring UK venues and performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 1997 he was a finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards, alongside Peter Kay, and he later won the BBC Wales New Writer's Award and the TAPS Comedy Writer of the Year Award.
Arron has written and starred in the BBC Radio series Bennett Arron is JeWelsh and Bennett Arron Worries About..., both nominated for a Celtic Media Award. He presented the BBC television documentary The Kosher Comedian, tracing his family's roots from Lithuania to South Wales, and in 2007 wrote, directed and presented the Channel 4 documentary How Not to Lose Your Identity, based on his own experience of identity fraud.
