Sue Jones-Davies, sometimes credited simply as Sue Davies, was born on 1 January 1949 in Wales. Her exact birth town is not confirmed by available sources, but she grew up in Dinas Cross, north Pembrokeshire, and went on to study at the University of Bristol.
She is best known for playing Judith Iscariot in 'Monty Python's Life of Brian' (1979), and appeared in the original London production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. Her television and film credits include 'Rock Follies', which brought her a UK top-ten chart single with 'O.K?' alongside Julie Covington, Rula Lenska and Charlotte Cornwell, as well as 'French and Saunders', 'Brideshead Revisited', 'The Theory of Flight' and 'Solomon and Gaenor'. In 1976 she was shortlisted for the role of Leela in 'Doctor Who', losing out to Louise Jameson.
Jones-Davies is also a regular performer in Welsh-language television and sings in the acoustic band Cusan Tan. In 2008 she became a Plaid Cymru councillor in Aberystwyth, and served as Mayor of Aberystwyth from 2008 to 2009.
Jones-Davies' Welsh connection is well documented through her upbringing in Pembrokeshire and her decades-long public life in Aberystwyth, even though her precise place of birth remains unconfirmed.
