Steven Elliott grew up in Risca, South Wales, the son of a Welsh mother and an American father. He trained as an actor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff before going on to build a long career on stage and screen.
His theatre work includes seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, in productions such as 'A Christmas Carol' and David Edgar's 'Pentecost', and with the Royal National Theatre, including Danny Boyle's production of 'Frankenstein' and Sir Nicholas Hytner's 'The Winter's Tale'. At Dublin's Abbey Theatre he played the Welshman Gerry Evans in the acclaimed production of 'Dancing at Lughnasa'. He is an Associate Artist at Theatr Clwyd, where his roles have included Ebenezer Scrooge and De Guiche in 'Cyrano de Bergerac'.
On television, Elliott is best known to British audiences as Sgt Jake Bridges in the BBC legal drama 'Judge John Deed', and has also appeared in 'The Crown', 'Holby City', 'Inspector Morse' and S4C's bilingual series 'Porthpenwaig'. His film credits include the title role in 'The Watcher in the Woods' opposite Anjelica Huston, as well as 'Les Misérables', 'Hamlet' and 'Time Bandits'.
