Ken Jones, sportsman with a Welsh connection!

Ken Jones

Scoring the winning try against the All Blacks in 1953. Ken was not only a terrific rugby player but also won an Olymic Silver Medal for the four hundred meter relay in the 1948 games. He was also awarded an obe for services to sport.
Connection: Ken was Welsh, he played for Newport and gained fortyfour caps.

Ken was born in my home town of Blaenavon, went to West Mon Grammar school with my dad, Francis Huybs - and presented me with my first ever running prize when I came third in the Fairwater 10 mile road race in 1987. He was a truly gifted sportsman.
