John Lewis Considered one of America's greatest Labour leaders in the 1930's and 1940's. Rising from humble beginnings to become leader of the powerful UMW (United Mine Workers). He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian decoration by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
