George Smith

Boxed Tommy Farr in Merthyr in 1930's. Lost on points over fifteen rounds. Won the 'Metropolitan Police Trophy' in 1928. Boxed over three hundred professional fights. Weighed in at 12st 7lbs, then cruiser weight.
Connection: Born in Thomastown, Tonyrefail, 1908.

Overlooked potential world champion. Most fights were fought in heavyweight division because of lack of competition in cruiser weight. Was also sparring partner to Jack Peterson.
