I started my National Service in the Royal Signals in 1960. I was told I had to play rugby even though I was a Soccer Player at the time. The sergeant walked me into the clubhouse and told me to play as well as ten percent of the guy in the picture. It was Billy Boston. Though I have never seen any record of Billy playing for the Signals.

I met the great Billy Boston on a rainy night in Rochdale in 1960. I was twelve years old and he said hello and gave me his autograph. He was not only the greatest winger of all, he always had time for the kids.

After everything he has achieved, he is still a very quiet and reserved man. He is humbled by the many accolades people bestow on him. He is a true gentleman who works hard for charities and always has time for people. Maybe I'm biased but I'm proud to be his niece!

Billy Boston is my uncle from my fathers side. I have not seen him for quite a few years, and I would love to see him again.
