Marcus Shakesheff

Stunt Performer, Coordinator and Director

Marcus Shakesheff, nicknamed 'Marcus Monkey' for his acrobatic ability, is a Wales-based stunt performer, stunt coordinator, actor and director with more than fifteen years in the film and television industry. His stunt and fight-choreography credits include HBO's 'Game of Thrones', the 'Sherlock Holmes' films, 'American Assassin', 'The King's Man', Amazon's 'Hanna' and FX's 'The Bastard Executioner'. He won the Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Stunt Coordinator for his work on 'Wonder Woman', with further nominations for 'American Assassin' and 'Wonder Woman' in fight-choreography categories.

An ex-semi-professional fighter with a background in full-contact Bare Knuckle Karate, Thai boxing and amateur boxing, Shakesheff has held multiple regional and national titles, including Welsh, English and European open full-contact competition wins. He made his feature directing debut with 'Kamikaze', described as the first martial arts action movie made in Wales, and founded his own production company, Beat 'Em Up Films.

Legacy content on this page long described him as being 'from Newport', but that specific claim could not be independently verified from currently available sources — he is consistently reported simply as a long-standing, Wales-based member of the stunt industry, and it is on that basis that his Welsh connection is recorded here.

Beyond his stunt-industry credits, Shakesheff's fighting background gave him an early grounding in the discipline that underpins his stunt and fight-choreography work — he competed at a semi-professional level in full-contact Bare Knuckle Karate and Thai boxing, and as an amateur boxer, winning Welsh, English and European open full-contact titles. His directing debut, 'Kamikaze', was billed as the first martial arts action feature made in Wales, and he continues to run his own production banner, Beat 'Em Up Films, producing further action projects.

This bloke is amazing, I saw a video of his the other day and it blew me away. Not only can he smash anything with most parts of his body but his martial arts and gymnastic skills are sublime. Makes me proud to be Welsh, I just dont understand why he isn't a professional martial arts actor. He would have made an excellent bad Jedi in the Star Wars films. George Lucas's loss. Does anyone know what style he uses and where he trains or teaches. I want to be a disciple!

I saw this guy perform once for a martial arts demostration, he is really good some of the stuff he did i had only ever saw on moives. Watching this guy perform is like watching the matrix except he uses no wires. After woulds i saw him on bbc i love wales. I am suprised he has stared in his own moive yet? I also saw Marcus perform for a music festival and never ever seen anything like it, it was like watching Matrix 4. I managed to speak to him after the show and he was a really nice guy and gave me lots of advie for my martial arts. Ever since I've been a really big fan.

This guy is awesome! I met him briefly at a show he did in 2004, logged onto his website and have been following his progress ever since. He has a very versatile style of martial arts and acting and appears 100 percent commited. He has the potential to go far in his career as a stuntman and do Wales proud!

I worked with Marcus on a few productions and video's. I am not surprised to find him on this website. I'm shocked that no producer or stunt co-ordinator has not signed him up yet for any features. This guy is so amazing every body I talk to in and out the movie business has hared of him. There's something wrong there, I think we, his fans should push to get him in a feature film. This guy is going to raise the bar in future stunt work.
