Roger Nott was a Welsh stage and television actor, born in Cardiff in 1943. He built a long career as a jobbing actor and theatre-maker, understudying Richard Harris in the West End and playing King Arthur four times in Camelot, and he later appeared in the TV series Darklands and a one-man show about fellow Welshman Richard Burton.
With his wife Christine, Roger founded and ran the Cardiff Open Air Theatre Company through the 1970s and 1980s, staging productions for children in Roath Park and at the New Theatre, Cardiff, and touring across Wales for a decade. The company gave many young performers their first professional break and provided significant early work for Welsh actors. Roger was also a founder member of the campaign to set up Equity representation in Wales.
His television work ranged from Dixon of Dock Green to The Bill (set at Sun Hill), and his film credits are said to have included a role in one of Peter Greenaway's The Tulse Luper Suitcases films. Roger died on 13 October 2022.
