John Hefin, born John Hefin Evans (14 August 1941 – 19 November 2012), was a Welsh television producer and director, born in Aberystwyth, the youngest son of local primary school headmaster Huw Evans. Although listed here among the site's acting connections, Hefin's career was spent almost entirely behind the camera, most notably as head of drama at BBC Wales through the 1970s and 1980s.
He joined the BBC in 1960, and over his career devised the long-running Welsh-language soap opera Pobol y Cwm, co-wrote and directed the rugby comedy film Grand Slam, and produced the 1981 biopic The Life and Times of David Lloyd George. He later worked in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Aberystwyth University, and co-founded the film and television course there.
