Robin Courteney Nedwell was born on 27 September 1946 in Birmingham, England, but moved with his family to Cardiff at an early age. He was educated at Monkton House prep school in Cardiff, and after leaving school studied at University College, Cardiff, before joining the Welsh Theatre Company.
Nedwell is best remembered for playing Duncan Waring in the television comedy series Doctor in the House and its sequels, including Doctor in Charge, Doctor at Large and Doctor at Sea, roles which made him one of British television's most familiar comic actors through the 1970s. He also appeared in The Lovers, The Shillingbury Tales and a number of Hammer horror films.
Robin Nedwell collapsed and died on 1 February 1999, aged 52, during a routine visit to a doctor's surgery near his home in Hedge End, near Southampton.
