Alice Evans is a British-American actress, born on 2nd August 1968 in New Jersey, United States, to British parents, and raised in Bristol, England. Her father, David Evans, was a professor of applied mathematics connected to the University of Bristol, and her mother, Janet Evans, taught English literature. She graduated from University College London with a degree in French and Italian before training at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris.
Evans built an acting career across French, Italian, British and American film and television, including the French sitcom 'Elisa Top Modele' and the Italian miniseries 'Le ragazze di Piazza di Spagna'. In 2000 she starred as Chloe Simon in the Disney film '102 Dalmatians', appearing alongside Glenn Close and Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, and she was also seen in the film 'Blackball' (2003). On American television she had recurring roles as Esther Mikaelson in 'The Vampire Diaries' and its spin-off 'The Originals', and appeared in series including 'Lost' and 'Grimm'.
This site had previously described Alice Evans as having a father from North Wales. That specific claim could not be verified: published biographical sources describe her father as an applied mathematics academic linked to Bristol, with no reference to Wales. Her genuine and well-documented connection to Wales came through her relationship with Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, who was born in Cardiff and raised through Welsh-medium education in south Wales. The couple met while filming '102 Dalmatians' and married in September 2007.
