Naomi Watts was born on 28 September 1968 in Shoreham, Kent, England. Following her father's death in 1976, her mother moved the family to Anglesey in North Wales to live with her Welsh grandfather, Hugh Roberts, and grandmother Nikki, at Llanfawr Farm near Llangefni and Llanfairpwllgwyngyll.
During her three years living on Anglesey, Watts attended Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni, a Welsh-medium secondary school. The family later emigrated to Australia, where Watts formed a lasting friendship with fellow actress Nicole Kidman.
Watts went on to become one of the most acclaimed film actresses of her generation, earning international recognition for her performance in David Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive' (2001) and starring as Ann Darrow in Peter Jackson's 'King Kong' (2005). She has also appeared in 'The Ring' and a wide range of other film and television roles across her career.
Watts has maintained her connection to Anglesey. In 2016 she became honorary president of Glantraeth F.C., a small football club in Malltraeth, close to the farm where her grandparents lived and where she spent part of her childhood.
