Myfanwy Talog

Actress from Caerwys, Flintshire

Myfanwy Talog Williams, known professionally as Myfanwy Talog, was a Welsh actress born on 31 March 1944 in Caerwys, Flintshire. She worked as a teacher before moving into acting, and became one of the most familiar faces of Welsh-language television during the 1970s and 1980s.

Talog played Phyllis Doris, the family's teenage daughter, in the popular Welsh comedy series "Ryan and Ronnie", and went on to appear in a string of English-language sitcoms and dramas, including "Bread", "Butterflies", "Yes, Prime Minister", "Within These Walls", "A Sharp Intake of Breath", "Waiting for God", "The Magnificent Evans" and "Crossroads" — the soap opera on which she first worked alongside actor David Jason in 1966.

She was also a prolific voice artist, narrating the Welsh children's series "Wil Cwac Cwac", voicing characters for Cosgrove Hall's "Alias the Jester", and playing Mrs Clonkers opposite David Jason's title character in the 1989 animated film of Roald Dahl's "The BFG".

Talog and David Jason were partners for eighteen years, and she accompanied him to Buckingham Palace in 1993 when he received his OBE. She died of breast cancer on 11 March 1995, aged 50. In 2006 a plaque was unveiled on her childhood home in Caerwys in her memory.
