He was actually born in Hollybush, near Blackwood, where his father lived before they composed the national anthem.

The James men were my mother's uncles, I think possibly on her father's side, though she never said. We did not learn Welsh as children unfortunately, but I have at last taught myself the words of the national anthem in Welsh. Not bad for an old girl of sixty-five!
