As a director, Melisa has worked at the Arcola Theatre, London, the Ambassadors Theatre Group, London, the Athena Film Festival at Bard, NY, the Museum of Moving Image, New York, and numerous other institutions on both sides of the Atlantic. As a producer she produced the film Glimpse by Theresa Rebeck and The Waves in Quarantine by Lisa Peterson.

Her play Pit about the 1984 miners' strike in South Wales drew directly on her own upbringing. "There was no way we wouldn't hear about or see the effects of the pit closures," she has said. "Whole towns were put out of work... it really was all around us." The play premiered in New York to strong reviews, praised for its deeply human portrayal of a community under pressure. Her most recent work is The King's Wife  a new musical about Katherine of Aragon, created with multi-Grammy-nominated songwriter Jamie Floyd  which premiered at Constellation Theatre, Washington DC.

Melisa has won the True West Award for her radio series For Spacious Skies, for which she served as lead writer and showrunner across twelve episodes, and the 2021 Spirit of the Festival Award in Ireland for her short play Beginnings. She won the 2017 Parity Commission for her play Charlie's Waiting. She also teaches dramatic writing and directing at NYU Tisch Department of Dramatic Writing and at ESPA for Primary Stages, and has led writing workshops with the Wounded Warrior Project and Rattlestick Theatre.

Melisa's personal dream remains a characteristically Welsh one to appear on stage or screen with her mother Sue Roderick and her aunt Francesca Annis, directed by her stepfather Paul Turner. "I feel it would be a great combo," she has said. "All three I admire and I would really love to work with them." The Royal Welsh Ladies' Choir, founded by Clara Novello Davies in 1883, became "Royal" after a command performance for Queen Victoria in 1894 and toured North America repeatedly into the 1920s. Muriel Jones led the choir in its later years; family recollection places her performing before the Duke and Duchess of York in 1935 and describes an MBE awarded for her services to music, though these specific details remain unverified beyond community and family record.

Griffith was a significant figure in the American folk revival of the 1980s and 90s, closely associated with fellow Texas songwriters and later with the Irish and UK folk scenes, where she found a particularly devoted following. Her claimed Welsh paternal ancestry, while unverified as fact, was clearly meaningful to her personally and became part of the way she told her own story in song.

Chapman also fronted Waysted alongside former UFO bassist Pete Way and co-founded the band Ghost with fellow Welshman Carl Sentance. He was a cousin of Rockpile and solo star Dave Edmunds, another South Wales musician, and is remembered as one of the great unsung guitarists of the 1970s and 80s British hard rock scene.

Paul Whitehouse's career is really two great acts. The first, alongside Harry Enfield and later Charlie Higson, produced some of the most quoted comedy of the 1980s, 90s and 2000s: Stavros and Loadsamoney for Enfield, then Rowley Birkin QC, Unlucky Alf, Ron Manager, Arthur Atkinson and the deeply affecting Ted and Ralph double act (with Higson) on The Fast Show, which he co-created and which won him two BAFTAs in 1998. He kept the partnership with Enfield alive for decades through Harry & Paul, itself a further BAFTA winner in 2011, while also writing and performing in Happiness, Help, Down the Line, Nurse and Only Fools and Horses The Musical, in which he played Grandad.

The second act arrived later in life and reached a far wider, more emotionally engaged audience: after his own 2015 diagnosis with heart disease, treated with coronary stents, Whitehouse took his friend Bob Mortimer fishing during Bob's recovery from major heart surgery. That trip became Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, a BBC Two series which, since 2018, has turned quiet conversations about friendship, mortality, grief and health into some of the most talked-about and best-loved television in Britain, introducing Paul Whitehouse's Welsh-born, Rhondda-raised warmth to an entirely new audience decades into his career.

Baynham created the character "Terry from Pontypridd" for a well-remembered Pot Noodle advertising campaign, and has described Armando Iannucci, Steve Coogan and Chris Morris as close collaborators who, together with him, are widely credited with revolutionising British topical and character comedy in the 1990s.
