Inigo Jones' father was a Welsh, Catholic clothmaker.


1573 - 1652. Surveyor of the kings works 1615-35. Founder of classical English architecture. His works included: the Queen's House at Greenwich, the Banqueting house at the Palace of Whitehall, Covent Garden and Lincoln's Inn Fields. In his early career worked with Ben Jonson designing stage settings and costumes.
