with its biblical setting ben hur cleverly weaves a tale around the end of jesus? life, eluding to rather than directly referencing the gospel. hugh emrys griffith delivers a confident cameo as a bedouin sheikh who befriends the hero ben hur (charlton heston). a small roll but frankly you can?t imagine the movie without his cheeky irreverence to their roman overlords.

What about the classic 'Triple Crown'?

'A Run for your money', excellent 1948 account of two Welsh innocents abroad in London for a Rugby game. Many parts in Ealing comedies, e.g. 'Kind Hearts and Coronets', 'Titfield Thunderbolt' etc.

Memorable actor in numerous Ealing films - 'Kind Hearts and Coronets - The Titfiled Thunderbolt' but magnificently in the film 'A Run for your Money' where Griffiths plays the part of a harpist, down on his luck in London. Reunited with his rugby going mates at Twickenham in 1949 and brought home (an unpronounceable village which looks like Cymmer Afan) a marvellous film with lots of character.
