Malcolm Vaughan, actor with a connection to Wales (Abercynon)
Malcolm Vaughan
Strong Tenor voice also part of comedy duo with Kenny Earle.Connection: Born in Abercynon. Straight partner with Kenny Earle.
One of the top singers in the 1950's and largely forgotten. A marvellous talent in the true Welsh spirit.
Hi, I really enjoyed your page on Malcolm Vaughn is he still alive ?
A marvellous voice and greatly under rated in the fifties. He had a better voice than any of the more well known stars of the fifties. Should have been more publicised.
I met Malcolm in the 1950's. What a nice gentleman, I was working at a garage in Taunton Somerset when he came in with Kenneth Earl and I booked his car in for a service. He was appearing at the Gaumont in the town and now some fifty years later I still remember his rendition of St Theresa of the roses.
I too remember Malcolm Vaughan and his wonderful voice. Songs which stick in the memory are 'Guaridan Angel', 'Wait for me', Chapel of the roses, 'St. Teresa of the roses', 'My special angel' to name but a few. Does anyone know of any available backing tracks of any of Malcolms songs? Many thanks
I would like to get the sheet music for the song he sang 'Heart of a child' I think it is by bourne/austin, can anyone help?
Hi, I remember Malcolm, as my uncle Michael (Michael Austin) was his pianist and wrote the music for Malcolm's song heart of a child. Both he and Michael were fantastic together and in their own right.
This evening (tue 24 march 09) on bbc radio 2's desmond carrington show a track of malcolms was played. Desmond also said that malcolm is suffering from alzheimers and passed on messages from his (malcolms) wife and son. He also said that a double cd is about to be released and also a biography.
