Sir Charles Evans, Everest expedition commander and Bangor, Wales

Sir Charles Evans Second in command of the Everest expedition of 1953. Was in fact the first choice for accent to the summit but was defeated by bad weather. Had he done so, he would have achieved all the fame that Edmund Hillary received. In 1955 he led the Khan Chen Junga expedition.
