Stuart Richardson

Stuart Richardson, born 15 August 1973, is a Welsh bassist, producer and songwriter best known as a member of Lostprophets, the rock band that formed in Pontypridd in 1997. Richardson's route into the band began behind the mixing desk rather than on stage: working in the mid-1990s as a producer in his local area of Wales, and later as an engineer at Front Line Studios in Caerphilly, he produced Lostprophets' first two demos before joining as full-time bassist in 1998, replacing Mike Lewis, who switched to rhythm guitar.

With Richardson on bass, Lostprophets signed to Columbia Records and Visible Noise in 2000 and went on to release five studio albums, becoming one of the most commercially successful rock bands to emerge from Wales in the 2000s. In October 2013, following the arrest and conviction of former lead singer Ian Watkins on multiple serious sexual offences, Richardson and the remaining members announced they could no longer continue as Lostprophets. Six months later, they formed a new band, No Devotion, with Geoff Rickly of the American band Thursday as lead singer, releasing the albums Permanence (2015) and No Oblivion (2022).

Richardson has also been the touring bassist for Thursday since 2017 and co-owns Rocky Water Studios in Florida, where he now lives, though his professional roots and his years producing and playing in the South Wales music scene remain closely tied to Pontypridd and the wider Valleys.
