Famous Welsh Legends
Welsh history is full of misinterpretation, legends and myths. When famouswelsh.com started in 1999, King Arthur was still thought of as pure legend or myth. Now there are plenty of indicators suggesting there is truth buried in the legends. The misinterpretation of the Arthurian legend alone is staggering — most people believe he was an early English King, which seems odd given that England didn't exist at the time. We've started here with Arthur because he is so well known that all our readers worldwide can relate to him. However, there are many other stories and strands of Celtic culture that survive to this day. Within our listings you'll find references to personalities who have made such a great impression that their presence is still felt, including Edwin Hughes, Henry VII, Richard Americk and other great characters.
