Wales itssef has some home grown political icons but were were amazed to see how many leaders around the world have Welsh roots. The American Declaration of Independance alone has signiories who not only had Welsh ancestry but spoke Welsh too. Most people in the UK know of Aneurin Bevan but our list also includes very influential thinkers and leaders like Hilary Clinton, Jonathan Roberts, Llewellyn Thompson, Samuel Griffith, Thomas Jefferson and more!

Sylvan Thomas, politician with a Welsh connection!

Sylvan Thomas Becoming the first Leader of a non-Labour Council in fifty-five years. He became the youngest Mayor of the Borough at the age of thirty-eight. Leader of the Council and also a Freeman of the Borough.

William Abraham, politician with a connection to Wales (Cwm)

William Abraham Began work in the mines at the age of ten. In the mid 1860's he travelled to Chile to work in the copper mines. On his return he worked briefly in the tinplate industry before resuming work in the coal mining industry. Became MP. For the Rhondda in 1885. In 1899 he was elected as first president of the South Wales Miners' Federation.
