According to the chambers biographical dictionary (1974), Aneurin Bevan (1897-1960) was born at Tredegar, Monmouthshire (now in Blaenau Gwent). He was one of thirteen children, his father being a miner.

Nye was one of my great great grandmothers cousins. I'd really appreciate any information you can share with me, as I am also doing my family tree.

It appears my great grandmother Catherine Bevan, was his niece. To confirm this does anyone know the history of his uncle, John Bevan born 1853?

I am related to Aneurin Bevan. My great-grandfather (Idris Powel) was his cousin. When Idris' parents died, the children were split into pairs to live with other relatives. I t just happened that Idris and one of his sister's were sent to his aunties house (Aneurin's mum). My mother recollects Idris telling her that Aneurin often came home for Sunday lunch and his mother telling him not to talk about politics at the table!
