Clifford Dyment, writer linked to Usk, Wales
Poet, literary critic, editor and journalist. Best known for his poems on countryside topics. During the latter part of the 1930s he was a literary figure in London. During World War Two he was engaged to make films, working for the British government.
Connection: Born in 1914 and brought up in Caerleon-on-Usk.
Works include First Day from 1935, Straight or Curly from 1937, The Axe in the wood from 1944. Was an active writer right through his life publishing works such as Thomas hood, Experiences and places,The railway game and collected poems in 1970 He died in 1971.
