Ray Miland was a Hollywood heart-throb for millions!

A major Hollywood presence of the 1940's and 1950's.
Ray Milland (his real name was Reg Jones) gained an Oscar for his role in The Lost Weekend in 1945, his highest acolade though his career continued right into the 1980's.

Many people will remember him as the father in 'love story', the type of a cameo role he was often seen in. One of his last roles was in Battlestar Galctica - he was very versitile!

Sadly Ray died of cancer in 1986, leaving a film record anyone would be proud of!

connection: from Neath, South Wales.

This film has all the elements of classic Hitchcock: The technique; the humor; the pacing; the performances from Kelly and Milland; the taste for the macabre; the director's occasional breakout from the shackles of the studio system to create pieces of marvelously abstract imagery.

My grandfather worked for Paramount Studios and booked many of the stars of Ray Miland's era on liners going to and from the USA and Europe for work. I have a very old bone handled 'pen knife' once belonging to Ray Miland.
