Versitle
doesn't begin to describe him, Jonathan is an
all-rounder with talent to spare!
Johnathan could count himself a Liverpudlian as much as a Welshman since although he was born in Hollywell he studied art in
Liverpool, swapped to drama in London and after graduating he returned Liverpool to begin his career with a theatrical company
based there. Johnathan brings new meaning to the term 'versitile', a good singer, great stage presance and he does a great job
as a film villain as in Tomorrow Never Dies (snatched from Anthony
Hopkins!) and Ronin.
Above: You can see Jonathan in one of his early roles in 'The Ploughman's Lunch'
The tale of a deceitful journalist who tries every trick in the book to enable him to climb to the top in his career. In the
midst of his plans he discovers that he has been the object of a deception far more clever than his own
connection: born in Holywell
Jonathan
plays a media mogul 'creating' the news for his organisation to broadcast. An attempt to start a war between China and
the West brings him to the attention of MI5 and Bond is on the case!
Very
Annie Mary
Feeling homesick for the old country? You'll love this gentle comedy by Sarah Sugarman. You might even recognise someone
you now (no, not Jonathan Pryce! ) - Sarah often films 'the locals' as extra's so who knows, you might spot your Auntie!
An early role for Rachel Griffiths too.
Brazil
Jonathan plays Sam, a hapless pen pusher for a future government in this, one of Terry Gilliam's best films. Sam struggles
against the system but finds red tape at every turn! Harry Tuttle (Robert DeNero), a terrorist plummer twists this dark
tale of personality over conformity.
Ronin Jonathan Pryce stars with hollywood regulars such as Robert de Niro and Sean Bean Tight action sequences and car
chases make this excellent thriller zip along. The suspense is well done (such as the gun meet alone the banks of the
Seine) and the camera work is brilliant.
The
Adventures of Baron Munchausen A remake of the classic story where Baron Munchausen must prove his reputation as one of history's most remarkable
adventurers or be seen as one of the greatest liars of all time. With the help of his four close friends, each one having
a special power, he sets out on new adventurers.
EVITA
A film adaptation of the stage musical by Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Sir Tim Rice. It tells the story of Eva, the illegitimate
daughter of a penniless farmer, who attaches herself to a popular tango singer. This enables her to move in influential
circles within Buenos Aires society and she soon becomes involved with rising politician, Juan Peron. After the couple
marry, and Peron is elected president, Eva's greatest battle begins.
Regeneration Excellent adaptation of Pat Barker's novel. A gripping study of war and its devastating effects. Set in a military
hospital during World War One, we learn of a real life encounter between psychologist Dr William Rivers (Pryce) and the
poet Siegfried Sassoon, who has been institutionalised in an attempt to undermine his public disapproval of the war. It
also concerns the young poet Wilfred Owen who, with
support from Sassoon, begins to write his great war-poems.
