About finding stuff you already know.
Searching for something you already know?
These days we're so used to using google, yahoo et al to find what we want it's second nature to just enter a search
and click what it finds, but sometimes we already know the answer...
Be honest, how did you come to famouswelsh.com today?
If you did this, opening google (or another search engine) and entered famouswelsh.com as in the following picture...

...then you should know that: you asked google "Go find famouswelsh.com" but you already knew where it is
- if you had entered famouswelsh.com into your browser address field like this...

...you would have come straight to our home page. This is true of any website you already have an address for, so why
search for it and what difference does it make?
One important difference!
A search engine would NOT necessarily show you the link to the website you're looking for. It will look for references
to the words you enter, whatever they are. It decides for itself what IT thinks YOU want to see and that's what you
get after you search, what it wants to show you.
Of course if you are unsure of the address a search is a good way of finding the answer, no problem but be aware the
search engine can't read your mind, only guess what you want so...
Looking for Harry Potter?
If you're looking for information on your long lost school friend Harry Potter, who to the best of your knowledge has
never been a wizard and was last seen behind the bar at your local pub - entering Harry Potter into a search engine
isn't the way to go. You will of course see hundreds of pages about the J
K Rowling character we all love (or hate).
